What Sylfirm X is

Sylfirm X is a radiofrequency (RF) microneedling system. Fine insulated microneedles deliver RF energy beneath the surface of the skin, where it prompts the skin to rebuild collagen and remodel tissue — while the outer layer is left largely intact, which is why downtime is short compared with ablative resurfacing.

What sets it apart from ordinary microneedling is that it works in two modes. The pulsed wave is designed for vascular and pigment concerns — the irregular vessels that feed melasma, diffuse redness and rosacea. The continuous wave is designed for collagen work: tightening, texture, scars. Which mode, which depth and which settings are chosen for your skin at the consultation, not from a menu.

What a session looks like

1. Consultation and skin assessment at your first visit — your history, your skin today, and which protocol makes sense. A MetaVu 3D skin analysis can be added so pigment, redness and texture are measured rather than guessed.
2. Deep cleansing and extraction — the skin is cleansed and any congestion that is ready is cleared, so the needles work on clean, open pores.
3. Topical numbing — applied and left to take effect. The whole appointment runs about 60–75 minutes including numbing (45–60 for the chin, up to 75 for scalp and body areas).
4. Sylfirm X — the handpiece passes over the area in a grid, with the mode and depth set for your protocol. For facial protocols we carry the treatment down to the neck lines as well.
5. Ultrasonic hydration — ultrasonic sono therapy drives a hydrating, repairing ampoule into the fresh micro-channels, while they are open.
6. PDT light therapy to finish — calming the skin and supporting recovery.
7. Cooling and barrier care, then your aftercare notes.

Downtime, honestly

Expect redness, warmth and a sunburn-like feeling for 24–48 hours on the face (24–72 hours on the body, chest or décolletage), sometimes with mild swelling, tightness, dryness, and tiny pinpoint marks in a grid that shed on their own.

• No makeup for 24 hours; no strenuous exercise, sauna, hot tub or swimming for 48 hours.
• Gentle cleanser and moisturizer only for 5–7 days; no retinoids or exfoliating acids for at least 5 days before and after.
• Broad-spectrum SPF 30+ daily and no direct sun for 2 weeks.

Less common reactions — bruising, a temporary breakout, temporary darkening of existing pigment before it lightens — are explained at your consultation and on the consent form you sign before the first session.

How many sessions, and when you see change

Sylfirm X is a course, not a single visit: most protocols run 3 to 8 sessions, 2–4 weeks apart, and collagen continues to build for up to about 3 months after the final session. Pigment and redness protocols often show change within the course; tightening builds more gradually.

Results vary between individuals, and no specific result is promised.

Who should wait, or check with us first

• Pregnancy or breastfeeding.
• A pacemaker, defibrillator or other implanted electronic device, or metal implants in the treatment area.
• Oral isotretinoin (Accutane) within the last 6 months.
• An active infection, cold sore, open wound or flare (acne, eczema, psoriasis, rosacea) in the treatment area — we treat once it has settled.
• Botox, fillers, peels, laser or other energy treatments in the last 2–4 weeks; significant sun exposure or self-tanner in the last 2 weeks.
• Blood thinners, a bleeding disorder, keloid scarring, diabetes, epilepsy, a heart condition, immune disorders or skin cancer history — tell us, and we will decide together whether and how to treat.

Questions we are asked most

Does it hurt?

It depends on your skin, and it changes over the course. Numbing cream goes on first and the surface of the skin is left largely intact. If the skin barrier is weakened or the skin has little collagen to work with, the first session or two can be uncomfortable; as the skin strengthens between visits, later sessions get noticeably easier. Most guests describe it as more annoying than painful — a hot, prickling pressure that comes and goes with each pass. Sensitivity varies from person to person, and your comfort sets the pace.

What is the downtime?

Redness, warmth and a sunburn-like feeling for 24–48 hours on the face (24–72 hours on the body or décolletage), sometimes with mild swelling and tiny pinpoint marks that shed on their own. No makeup for 24 hours, no strenuous exercise or sauna for 48 hours, SPF daily.

Can I go to work the next day?

Usually yes. Redness and warmth are most noticeable for the first 24–48 hours, and you can wear makeup again after 24 hours.

Sylfirm X or regular microneedling?

Our Microneedling (from $300) works on the surface for texture and glow. Sylfirm X adds radiofrequency energy beneath the surface and has protocols for pigment, redness, scars and tightening that needling alone does not reach. If you are unsure, start with a consultation.

Do I need Sylfirm X for acne?

Not from a first look. Most guests start with the Acne Special Treatment and a routine that works; the Acne Vulgaris protocol is the next step when breakouts keep returning, and post-acne marks and scars have protocols of their own.
