What XERF is
XERF delivers monopolar radiofrequency energy through the skin without breaking the surface. Where a single-frequency device heats one depth, XERF works across several frequencies so the energy reaches the shallow, middle and deep layers of the skin in one treatment — the layers where collagen sits and where laxity begins.
The heat contracts existing collagen and prompts the skin to build new collagen over the following months. Cooling is built into the handpiece (the manufacturer’s Integrated Cryogen Delivery), which is what makes the treatment comfortable enough to do without numbing cream, and the pulse adjusts to the thickness of the skin it is treating.
Who it is for
XERF is for skin that has started to lose its grip rather than skin with a specific mark: a jawline that has softened, cheeks that sit lower than they did, early laxity along the neck, and the general sense of the face looking less lifted.
It is a good fit for guests who want a firmer, lifted look without needles or recovery time, and for guests who are not ready for anything surgical. It tightens skin; it is not a fat-reduction treatment, and it does not replace what a facial does for the surface.

What a session looks like
- Consultation — your skin, your goals and your history, and whether XERF, Sylfirm X or a facial course is the right tool. A MetaVu 3D skin analysis can be added.
- No numbing cream — the built-in cooling does that work. You arrive with clean skin and go straight in.
- The treatment — the handpiece moves across the face (and neck, if included) in passes, with the energy set for each area. A session takes about 80–90 minutes.
- Straight back to your day — no downtime. Some warmth or pinkness for a short while afterwards is normal.
When you see change
Skin often looks a little tighter right after the treatment, and the lasting change builds over the following months as new collagen forms — which is why the second session is timed 2–4 months after the first, and a maintenance session once a year keeps the result. If you would rather keep it up a little at a time, the XERF Maintenance Membership gives you one smaller XERF session every month.
Results vary between individuals, and no specific result is promised. XERF is a cosmetic treatment and not a substitute for medical diagnosis or care.
Who should wait, or check with us first
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding.
- A pacemaker, defibrillator or other implanted electronic device, or metal implants in the treatment area.
- An active infection, open wound or flare in the treatment area — we treat once it has settled.
- Fillers, thread lifts or other energy treatments in the area in recent weeks — tell us at booking so timing can be set safely.
Questions we are asked most
Does it hurt?
No. XERF is done without numbing cream; the handpiece cools the skin as it works, and what you feel is a mild warm, slightly burning sensation as it passes — noticeable, not painful.
Is there any downtime?
No. You can return to work, wear makeup and carry on as usual the same day.
How many sessions?
We recommend two: the first session, then a second 2–4 months later once the new collagen from the first has built. After that, one maintenance session a year keeps the result. If you would rather keep it up a little at a time, the XERF Maintenance Membership gives you one smaller session every month. The manufacturer reports tightening after a single session, with collagen continuing to build over time.
XERF or Sylfirm X?
They are different tools. Sylfirm X uses microneedles to carry RF beneath the surface and has protocols for pigment, redness, scars and acne as well as tightening, with 24–48 hours of redness afterwards. XERF is needle-free, has no downtime, and is built for one job: structural tightening of the face and neck. Many guests use both over a year — XERF for lift, Sylfirm X for what is on the skin. The consultation decides.
Can I combine XERF with facials?
Yes — XERF works below the surface, and a facial course keeps the surface clear and hydrated. We will space them sensibly.
